Transgender Day of Visibility

Friday, March 31st is the Transgender Day of Visibility. Transgender persons are more often victims of discrimination and violence than many other members of the LGBT+ community and therefore often more reluctant to become visible in society even though visibility is important and vital when fighting for one’s rights.

We the European Centre-Right LGBT+ Alliance, the LGBT+ network in the EPP-family, would on this day like to put emphasis on the importance of working for a society all across Europe that are inclusive and that recognises the rights of transgender persons.

Governments and authorities should strive to:

– Combat discrimination against transgender persons
– Stand firm against hate crimes targeting transgender persons, and
– Ensure access to health care for transgender persons

We need to keep working to make Europe a continent for everyone – whoever you are!
